Coupe de France féminine 2011/12

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The competition for the Coupe de France féminine in the 2011/12 season was the eleventh draw of the French football cup for women's teams , which had been organized under the name Challenge de France féminin in the previous ten events . Participation was only compulsory for women in the first and second leagues.

The defending champion was AS Saint-Étienne , but this time they were eliminated in the last 32 participants. Instead, the women of Olympique Lyon won the competition; this was her second win of the state cup after 2008. As in the previous two years, the team from HSC Montpellier , who lost out in the final , was in a French cup final for the seventh time and was the loser for the fourth time.

The competition was held in the classic cup mode; This means in particular that the respective fixtures were drawn without seed lists or a performance-based or - from the round of 16 - regional pre-sorting of the clubs from all clubs still in competition and only one game was played at the end of which a winner had to be determined (and be it by a penalty shootout - an extension in the event of a tie after 90 minutes was not provided), which then qualified for the next round, while the loser was eliminated. Home rights were also determined for each match by drawing lots - with the exception of the final, which took place in a neutral place at different locations every year - but with the restriction that clubs that have to compete against an eleven playing at least two league levels higher automatically have home rights got.

The twelve first division clubs intervened in the thirty-second finals - the so-called second federal round (Deuxième tour fédéral)  . For the lower-class participants, this was preceded by several qualification rounds organized by the regional subdivisions of the FFF regional association .
