GDR best determination in ice hockey
The GDR best determination in hockey was in 1971 as a championship pitted the amateurs.
After the competitive sport resolution of the SED - Politburo of April 8, 1969, ice hockey was not one of the "specially promoted" sports. The GDR Oberliga was reduced to two teams, all other Oberliga and group league teams were dissolved. At the amateur level, however, game operations were maintained. In the determination of the best, the winner of this level was determined.
The determination of the best was carried out in the form of a tournament, usually in March of that year. The district champions were qualified for the best determination in 1971. In the following years, the district champions of the previous year were also able to report. From 1975 the best determination was divided into an A and a B group, with the last of the A group being relegated and the winner of the B group qualifying for the A group of the following year (there was a relegation in 1976). The last of the B-group had to defend his starting place in a relegation against the winner of an elimination of the district champions.
