The GDR ice hockey championship 1983/84 was again dominated in the major league by SC Dynamo Berlin . Although the SG Dynamo Weißwasser won the opening game, only the old and new champions from the capital triumphed in the other matches, securing the 11th title.

In the determination of the best, the BSG Monsator Berlin was only able to repeat its previous year's success thanks to the better goal difference compared to its arch rivals from Crimmitschau.
