• GDR Oberliga | Best determination ↓ |
In contrast to previous years, the GDR ice hockey championship 1979/80 experienced an exciting duel between the two dynamo clubs from Weißwasser and Berlin . In the upper league , which was scheduled for six games , Weißwasser was able to keep the decision open until the last day of the game, before the big favorite from Berlin finally defended the title in front of his own audience with the clearest win of the entire series.
In the determination of the best , the BSG Einheit Crimmitschau celebrated its return to the throne after five years without a title and, with a total of five triumphs, became the sole record holder among the amateur teams again. The winner of the last four events, BSG Monsator Berlin , on the other hand, had to admit defeat to someone better after 19 games without defeat.
