Daan Brandenburg (born November 14, 1987 in Lelystad ) is a Dutch chess player .

Since January 2007 he has held the title of International Master . He achieved the standards for this at the Stork Young Master 2005 in Hengelo , at the 14th International Nikaia Open , which took place in 2006 under the motto Honor to National Resistance in Nikea (Attica) (with overachievement) and at the 2006 EU Individual Championship in Liverpool . He has been a grandmaster since June 2011. He made his first GM standard at the Dutch Open in Dieren in August 2007, the second when he finished fourth, tied with the winner Dejan Boschkow , in the A group of the Schaak Festival in Groningen in December 2010 and the third at the Schackstudion GM tournament in Lund, Sweden .

In the Netherlands he plays for the Schaakclub Groningen , with which he won the Dutch championship in 2006/07 . In Germany he played for SK Turm Emsdetten from 2007 to 2012 , first one season in the 2nd Bundesliga West and after promotion to the German 1st Bundesliga .
