Robin Swinkels (born April 6, 1989 in Asten , Netherlands ) is a Dutch chess player who holds the title of grandmaster .

Career

In 2007 Swinkels achieved the title of International Master (IM) , followed by the title of Grand Master (GM) in 2009.

In 2008 Swinkels won the BPB Limburg Open.

Robin Swinkels appeared in the 2007/08 season for SC Remagen for the first time in the Bundesliga . Swinkels played for Remagen in the Bundesliga for a total of five seasons before the club was relegated from the top German division in the 2011/12 season. In the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons Robin Swinkels competed in the Bundesliga with DJK Aufwärts Aachen . In the Netherlands he played for the SMB Nijmegen as well as for the Schaakclub Utrecht, HMC Calder, LSG IntelliMagic and the Bussums Schaakgenootschap. In France he played for Club de Montpellier Echecs and in Belgium for KSK 47 Eynatten . He won the Belgian team championship in the 2009/10 , 2010/11 , 2013/14 and 2016/17 seasons . Swinkels took part in the European Club Cup 2008 as well as in the years 2010 to 2016 with the KSK 47 Eynatten, in 2009 with the Schaakclub Utrecht.

Swinkels studies econometrics at Tilburg University .
