Roeland Pruijssers (born August 16, 1989 in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht ) is a Dutch chess player .

Life

Roeland Pruijssers grew up in Apeldoorn . At the age of five he was registered with a chess club. His sister, who is two years older than him, also plays chess. His first club was Schaakmat , which he joined in 1994. From the 2000/01 season he played for Schaakstad Apeldoorn and since the 2001/02 season for the Homburg Apeldoorn club , with whom he also participated in the European Club Cups 2007 in Kemer , 2011 in Rogaška Slatina and 2013 in Rhodes (2011 and 2013 under the name Accres Apeldoorn ) took part. In the 2015/16 season he played for the champions En Passant Bunschoten-Spakenburg , and since the 2016/17 season he has played again for Apeldoorn. He is trained by the international master Merijn van Delft . In Germany he has been playing for SK Turm Emsdetten since the 2006/07 season , first in the NRW class, then in the 2nd Bundesliga and since the 2008/09 season also in the German Bundesliga . In Belgium he played for KSK 47 Eynatten in the 2015/16 season , and has played for L'Echiquier Amaytois since 2016 ( L'Echiquier Mosan since 2018 ).

From 2008 to 2013 he studied psychology at the University of Utrecht .

Together with Nico Zwirs , Pruissers publishes chess learning programs on the Sicilian Defense at ChessBase .

successes

In 2000 he won the open Dutch U12 championship in Hengelo . At the 2006 Harmony Tournament in Groningen , he finished second behind Sipke Ernst . In 2008 he won the Dutch U20 individual championship in Venlo and the second chess tournament in Leiden in a tie-break ahead of Erik van den Doel and six other grandmasters . He also won the tournament in Leiden in his second participation in 2016.

Roeland Pruijssers has held the title of International Master since June 2007. He achieved the norms for this at the Dutch Open in Dieren in August 2005, at the Harmonieterooi in Groningen in December 2005, and at the following Harmony tournament a year later with over-fulfillment. He has been a grandmaster since March 2012. He achieved the norms for his GM title in the Dutch team championship 2006/07 , in the Bundesliga season 2010/11 , in the A group of the Science Park tournament in Amsterdam in July 2011 and at the European Club Cup 2011.
