Erik van den Doel (born May 15, 1979 in Leiden ) is a Dutch chess player .
successes
He has been a grandmaster since 1998 (making him the youngest Dutch grandmaster at the time).
In 2005 he won the Open Dutch Chess960 Championship in Amsterdam together with Yasser Seirawan . In 2006 he won the Noteboom tournament in Leiden with a perfect result of 6 out of 6, and in 2007 the Open International Dutch Championship in Dieren .
In January 2014 it was ranked 12th in the Netherlands.
In 2016 he won the North-West Cup .
Team chess
National team
Van den Doel took the Dutch national team at the Chess Olympiads in 1998 , 2002 , 2004 and 2006 and at the European Team Championships in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007. He was European team champion in León in 2001 and Gothenburg in 2005, and in 2001 he also achieved the third-best individual result on the fourth board.

In the Dutch Meester class , van den Doel played at Bussums Schaakgenootschap until 1998 , from 1998 to 2006 for De Variant Breda , with whom he became Dutch team champion in 1999 , 2000 , 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 and 2006 and at the European Club Cup Participated in 1999, and from 2007 to 2011 for HMC Calder . Since the 2014/15 season he played for the Rotterdam club Charlois Europoort , with whom he became Dutch team champion in 2015.
In Germany, van den Doel has played for SG Porz since 1999 (until 2007 in the 1st Bundesliga , since then in the 2nd Bundesliga ) and became German team champion with them in 2000 and 2004 . In Belgium he played for KSK 47 Eynatten until 2011 , with whom he became Belgian team champion in 2004 , 2005 , 2006 , 2010 and 2011 , and since then for the chess friends Wirtzfeld , with whom he became Belgian team champion in 2013 and 2018 . In the Luxembourg national division, van den Doel plays for Gambit Bonnevoie in the 2015/16 season , he has also played in the French first division (for Vandœvre and Mulhouse ) and the Norwegian Eliteserien (for Moss SK ).
