Gennadi Sosonko (born May 18, 1943 in Troitsk ) (sometimes also called Genna Sosonko) is a Dutch chess grandmaster of Russian origin.
Life
Sosonko emigrated from the USSR to Israel in 1972 and then to the Netherlands, where he joined the Philidor association in 1847 . In 1973 he won the championship of the Netherlands . In 1974 he became international master , 1976 grand master . In 1978 he was again champion of the Netherlands. He won many other international tournaments, for example in 1976 in Lugano , 1977 in Wijk aan Zee , 1978 in Nijmegen , 1981 in Wijk aan Zee, 1993 in Polanica-Zdrój .
In 2001 he wrote Russian Silhouettes ( ISBN 90-5691-078-7 ), the sequels appeared in 2003 The reliable past ( ISBN 90-5691-114-7 ), in 2006 Smart chip from St. Petersburg ( ISBN 90-5691-169-4 ) and 2013 The World Champions I Knew ( ISBN 978-90-5691-418-9 ). The books contain biographical essays about partly famous, partly less well-known chess masters whom Sosonko knew personally. You are a source on the internals of the Soviet chess school . Sosonko received the title of FIDE Senior Trainer in 2004.
Sosonko is listed as inactive at FIDE as he has not played a rated game since the 2010/11 season of the Dutch team championship.
National team
Sosonko took part with the Dutch national team in the 1974 , 1976 , 1978 , 1980 , 1982 , 1984 , 1988 , 1990 , 1992 , 1994 and 1996 Chess Olympiads . In 1976 he reached second place with the team and won the individual ranking on the second board, in 1988 he took third place with the team. He also took part in the 1989 World Team Championships and the 1983 and 1997 European Team Championships.

In the Netherlands, Sosonko played for the team from Volmac Rotterdam , with whom he took part in the European Club Cup three times and achieved third place in 1988 as the greatest success. From 1981 to 1983 he played in the German Bundesliga for Königsspringer Frankfurt and in Belgium for Anderlecht , with whom he took part in the 1990 European Club Cup.
