Karl-Heinz Daehre (born June 11, 1944 in Langenweddingen ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

From 1991 to 1994 he was Minister for Regional Planning, Urban Development and Housing, from 2002 to 2006 Minister for Construction and Transport and from 2006 to 2011 Minister for Regional Development and Transport of the State of Saxony-Anhalt .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Egeln in 1962 , Daehre trained as a chemical laboratory assistant until 1964 and then studied chemistry at the Technical University of Magdeburg , which he completed in 1969 as a graduate chemist. He then worked as a laboratory manager at the Institute for Coatings and Paints at the TH Magdeburg. In 1983 he received his doctorate here as Dr. rer. nat. with the thesis on the structure and reaction behavior of melamine-formaldehyde condensates partially etherified with n-butanol . From 1990 to 1991 Daehre was head of the Institute for Coatings and Paints.

Karl-Heinz Daehre is married and has a daughter.

Political party

He joined the CDU in January 1990 and was regional chairman of the CDU Saxony-Anhalt from 1993 to 1998 .

Daehre has been a member of the district council of his home district since 1990 . From 1990 to 1993 he was district council president of the Wanzleben district and from 1999 to 2007 of the Bördekreis . Since July 12, 2007 he has been chairman of the district council of the newly formed district of Börde .

From 1990 to 2006 Karl-Heinz Daehre was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt .

Public offices

On September 12, 1991 he was appointed Minister for Regional Planning, Urban Development and Housing in the state government of Saxony-Anhalt led by Minister President Werner Münch . In this office he was also a member of the cabinet headed by Christoph Bergner from 1993 . After the CDU-FDP coalition had lost its majority in the 1994 state elections, Daehre left office on July 21, 1994.

After the state elections in 2002, Daehre was appointed Minister for Construction and Transport in the government led by Wolfgang Böhmer on May 16, 2002 . From April 24, 2006 until the formation of the cabinet after the 2011 election, he was Minister for State Development and Transport for the State of Saxony-Anhalt. In 2007 and 2008 he was chairman of the conference of transport ministers .

For a long time, Karl-Heinz Daehre was one of the candidates for the successor to Wolfgang Böhmer in the office of Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, alongside Minister of Economics Haselhoff. In 2010 the CDU nominated Haseloff as the top candidate for the state elections on March 20, 2011.

Karl-Heinz Daehre was appointed by the Transport Ministers' Conference in 2012 as chairman of the commission on the “Future of Transport Infrastructure Financing ” (so-called Daehre Commission ).

Awards

On March 18, 2009, Karl-Heinz Daehre was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class by Wolfgang Böhmer. He received this award for his services in building democratic structures in Saxony-Anhalt.

For his commitment to the implementation of innovative concepts for rail transport in rural areas, he received the German Rail Transport Prize on November 20, 2010 in the Politics category, which is awarded by the German Railway Customers Association.
