Daniel la Rosa (born October 4, 1985 in Hanau ) is a German car salesman and former racing driver and TV expert. From 2006 to 2007 he was active in the DTM .

Career in motorsport

After three years in the junior kart series (1997–1999), which he finished with ninth place, he switched to the German championship in the 125 cc kart. There he at least achieved fourth place in the championship. At the world championship in the same class, he achieved a respectable success with ninth place.

He then moved to the Formula König monoposto class in 2001 , where he celebrated third place in the championship series with a win and was considered the best rookie of the season.

In the following year he was drawn to Formula Volkswagen , where he was able to achieve a victory, but only finished eighth in the overall classification. In 2003/2004 Daniel la Rosa was in the Formula 3 Euro Series and then in Formula Renault 3.5 , where his career threatened to peter out at the bottom.

Due to his earlier successes, the private team Mücke Motorsport brought him into the DTM in 2006 . There he drove a DTM AMG Mercedes C-Class from 2005. In the first race at the Hockenheimring he was able to show his potential with a tenth place on the grid, but as a result of the chaos at the start and the rest of the events, he was passed to 15th place. Shortly before the end of the race in 8th place, he retired due to a defect in the fuel pump. In 2006 he showed with fast racing laps and consistency; 7th place in Barcelona was his best result of the season.

In 2007 he started his second DTM season in a 2006 DTM Mercedes. In the opening race on April 22nd, due to the subsequent time penalty against Bruno Spengler, he achieved third place behind Mattias Ekström and Martin Tomczyk and thus his first podium finish. He achieved a total of 10 championship points during this season and was ranked 13th in the championship. His contract with Mercedes, which was about to expire, was not extended at the end of the season, as the contracting parties could not agree on common terms.

After active racing

In 2009 and 2010 la Rosa worked alongside Oliver Sittler as a TV expert on n-tv live broadcasts of the Formula 3 Euro Series .

Today, la Rosa works at the Porsche Center Aschaffenburg as a sales consultant for new and used cars.
