action
The novice Angela is one night under the jasmine bushes of the monastery garden a baby who appears to have been abandoned by his mother. She takes it to her cell and looks after it until the strict abbess tells her that the child cannot stay in the monastery for long. But because Angela does not want to part with the boy and the abbess calls a doctor to examine whether the nuns' dire fears regarding the child's origin are true, Angela, in desperation, jumps out of the window into a lake. She is pulled to the bank by the young idiot Charly. This is supported by a rich but unknown father, which enables him to spend his studies with all sorts of bells and whistles.
After some confusion, which the cardinal even appears to clarify , it turns out that Charly is the child's father, while the cardinal reveals himself to be his father. This is how it comes to a happy ending between Charly and Angela.
criticism
"Filming of a stage play by Curt Goetz, well photographed and played in an acceptably entertaining manner."
“A stylistically very inconsistent film interspersed with fashionable gimmicks, which lacks spirit and charm, especially in those parts that were invented in addition to the original. Possible from 16 years. "
