The aim of the series was to portray some centuries-old crafts that are threatened with extinction due to industrial progress. In the individual documentation, master craftsmen were shown in the manual production of a product corresponding to their guild . The protagonist provides information about his apprenticeship , his working life, but also about recipes, handles, materials and techniques of the traditional manufacturing method of his product.

The broadcast's spokesman was Achim Höppner .

The episodes of the film series are currently being broadcast on ARD-alpha .

The film series The last of their craft? from the SchwyzKulturPlus association has the same concept as the film series The Last of His Stand? . Old Swiss craft trades from the Canton of Schwyz are dealt with in short films . In fact, the original title of this film series was the same.
