The Mariscal Cáceres district is located in the Huancavelica province in the Huancavelica region in southwest central Peru . The district was established on March 27, 1935. The district was named after Andrés Avelino Cáceres (1836–1923), two-time president of Peru.
The district has an area of 5.21 km². The 2017 census counted 526 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 424, in 2007 it was 760. The district administration is based in the 2847 m high village of Mariscal Cáceres with 461 inhabitants (as of 2017). Mariscal Cáceres is located 28 km north-northeast of the provincial and regional capital Huancavelica .
Geographical location
The Mariscal Cáceres district is located in the arid Andean highlands in the north of the Huancavelica province. The district is located on the right bank of the east-flowing Río Mantaro above the confluence of the Río Ichu .
The Mariscal Cáceres District is bordered to the south and the west by the district Huando , on the north by the district Ahuaycha ( province Tayacaja ) and to the east by the district Acoria .
