The Division 1B 2017/18 was the 101st season the second highest Belgian league for Men's Football and the second season as a professional Division 1B after restructuring of the leagues system for season 2016/17. The official name of the league was Proximus League , named after the main sponsor Proximus .
The season was played in two stages, so-called ( tranches ) of 14 game days each. The eight clubs played against each other twice in a round-trip round per tranche. The first tranche began on August 4, 2017 and ended on November 5, 2017. The second was carried out from November 11, 2017 to February 25, 2018.
The winners of the two tranches determined the master in two games , who then rose to Division 1A. If a team won both tranches, it rose without a playoff.
The three clubs in positions two to four of the overall table (except for the winners of the promotion games) played with nine clubs from Division 1A, which occupied positions seven to fifteen in two groups and subsequent finals from one participant who then competed against fourth the Division 1A could qualify for the Europa League .
The teams in places five to eight played a relegated team in the relegation round . The points from the overall table were halved and added as bonus points. In the event of a tie, the team whose points were not rounded up was better placed.
