The second division 2014/15 was the 98th season of the second highest Belgian division in men's football . It began on August 1, 2014 and ended on April 26, 2015. The official name of the league has been Proximus League (previously Belgacom League ), named after the main sponsor Proximus , since this season .

Game mode

The 18 participants of the second division played the regular season in a round trip. The master rose directly to the 1st division . The season was divided into three intermediate sections (1st to 10th matchday, 11th to 22nd matchday and 23rd to 34th matchday), so-called tranches . The first placed of the three tranches took part in the relegation round together with the winner of the relegation round of the 1st division , the winner of which was promoted to or remained in the 1st division. If the champions who were promoted directly to the first division had won one or more tranches or a club that had already won a tranche was the winner of another tranche, the top-ranked team in the overall table that did not yet qualify for the relegation round moved up was.

The last two clubs in the regular season were relegated directly to the third division. The table 16. participated in a relegation play-off together with the three tranche winners of the two seasons of the third division, which was not due to the increased number of relegations due to licenses not received.

2 The KRC Mechelen and KV Woluwe-Zaventem did not apply for a license for the coming second division season.
3 RAEC Mons was officially declared bankrupt on March 31st and was therefore not granted a license for the upcoming second division season.
4thThe license committee of the Belgian Football Association announced on April 8th that Eendracht Aalst, Royal Antwerp, Seraing United, AFC Tubize and RWS Bruxelles would not receive a license for the coming second division season. All clubs then appealed to the Belgian Sports Court. The objections of RWS Bruxelles (on April 28th), Seraing United (on May 4th), Royal Antwerp (on May 5th) and AFC Tubize (on May 9th) were granted and the clubs were ultimately granted their license. On May 7, the lawsuit by Eendracht Aalst and thus a license was rejected in the last instance.
At the end of the 2014/15 season:

Participants in the final round of relegation to the 1st division : Lommel United, KAS Eupen and Oud-Heverlee Leuven
Relegated to the third division : RAEC Mons, Eendracht Aalst, KRC Mechelen and KV Woluwe-Zaventem
