The second division 2005/06 was the 89th season of the second highest Belgian division in men's football . It started on August 31, 2005 and ended on May 7, 2006.
mode
The 18 clubs played against each other twice on a total of 34 match days, divided into a first and a second half.
The 34 game days were divided into three stages: (1 to 10, 11 to 22 and 23 to 34). The table first and champion rose directly. The second promoted team was determined in a play-off round with four teams. The respective winners of the three stages as well as the penultimate of the 1st division took part. If the champion or another club had won more than one stage, the general ranking was used.
The results of the withdrawn KSK Heusden-Zolder were only deleted in the third stage. Therefore the third stage champion had to be recalculated due to the odd number of participants. (Games per stage divided by completed games, points rounded up.)
The teams in the last two ranks were relegated to the third division . The third from last had to go into relegation.
