Dominic Bösel (born October 24, 1989 in Naumburg (Saale) ) is a German boxer , former EBU European champion, WBO Intercontinental, WBA Continental and IBF champion as well as former WBO junior world champion and now reigning world light heavyweight champion from Freyburg (Unstrut) .
Career
Beginnings and trainers
Bösel started boxing at the age of six. Through his father and first trainer Bernd Bösel, he gained his first experience at the Amateur Boxing Club (ABC) Freyburg. He later switched to the sports school in Halle (Saale) . As an amateur, he competed in numerous fights and was twice German champion and nine times regional champion of Saxony-Anhalt. At the European Championships in 2006, he finished 5th. After training as an industrial clerk, he got a contract with Sport Events Steinforth in Magdeburg in October 2010 and played his first professional match on November 20, 2010. As "captain" of "Team Germany" he led a group of German boxing hopes in the SES boxing stable for six years. His coach was the former professional boxer Dirk Dzemski for over seven years , then he was trained for a year by Rainer Rauchfuß, with whom he already worked as an amateur. The Bösel / Dzemski team has been reunited since March 2019.
As a professional
WBO Youth Champion
On March 2, 2013, Bösel won his first professional title. In the fight for the vacant WBO Youth title, he defeated Harut Sahakyan from Koblenz , who later fought under the name Harro Stein, unanimously on points. On June 28, 2013 against Chris Mafuta and on October 19, 2013 against Mirco Ricci , he defended the title with points wins before he had to automatically surrender it on October 24, 2013 according to the regulations at the age of 24.
WBO, WBA and IBF Intercontinental Champion
Dominic Bösel won his first senior belt against Cuban Miguel Velozo on March 28, 2013 in Potsdam. With a point win he won the title of WBO Intercontinental Champion. Against the Hungarian Balazs Kelemen he also won the vacant WBA Continental title on January 23, 2016. With a TKO victory in the 6th round against Sami Enbom from Finland , he also won the IBF Intercontinental title on March 18, 2017.
Lost to Murat
In the fight for the vacant title of European light heavyweight champion according to the EBU version, Bösel lost his first fight as a professional on July 1, 2017 in Dresden, when he was defeated by the new European champion Karo Murat by technical knockout in the 11th round. There was no planned rematch because Bösel was injured and Murat later resigned his title.
EBU European Champion
Bösel fought on March 3, 2018 for the now vacant title against the Italian Serhiy Demchenko and won unanimously on points. In the following fight on October 27, 2018, he defended the EBU European Championship against Enrico Kölling . He did the same in the next fight on April 13, 2019 against the Kosovar Timy Shala.
IBO world champion and WBA interim world champion
In a fight against the IBO world champion Sven Fornling , he had the chance to win his first world title. Since the current WBA world champion Dmitri Biwol only strives for title union fights and the WBA would appoint him superchampion if he was successful, Bösel's fight against Fornling also became a fight for the interim world championship of the WBA. He resigned the EBU European Championship title before the fight. On November 16, 2019 won the title fight Boesel the IBO and WBA by a KO win over the Swedes Fornling, thereby becoming IBO champion and interim champion the WBA.
