history

After Joseph Dysart had settled on his farm in what is now the urban area in 1863 , the settlement named after him was built in 1873 with the construction of a railway line for what was then Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway . In 1881 the place was incorporated as an independent municipality.
