Joseph Dysart

Joseph Dysart (born July 8, 1820 in Pennsylvania , †  September 8, 1893 in Dysart , Iowa ) was an American politician . Between 1874 and 1876 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Iowa.

Career

Nothing is known about Joseph Dysart's youth and schooling. He worked as a farmer. At an unknown point in time, he came to Iowa, where he settled in a Tama County township that was named Dysart after him . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . He served in the Iowa Senate for some time .

In 1874, Dysart was elected Lieutenant Governor of Iowa alongside Cyrus C. Carpenter . He held this office between 1874 and 1876. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he no longer appeared politically. He died in Dysart on September 8, 1893.
