Ernest Robert Moore

Ernest Robert Moore (born November 1, 1868 in Anamosa , Jones County , Iowa , †  March 4, 1957 in Cedar Rapids , Iowa) was an American politician . Between 1917 and 1921 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Iowa.

Career

Nothing is known about Ernest Moore's youth and schooling. He later worked as a banker. He moved to Cedar Rapids and took part in the Spanish-American War of 1898 as a first lieutenant . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . For some time he sat in the Iowa House of Representatives . In June 1908 he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Chicago , where William Howard Taft was nominated as a presidential candidate.

In 1916 Moore was elected Lieutenant Governor of Iowa alongside William L. Harding . He held this office between 1917 and 1921. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he no longer appeared politically. He died on March 4, 1957 in Cedar Rapids, where he was also buried.
