Patty Judge
Patty Jean Judge (born November 2, 1943 in Fort Madison , Iowa ) is an American politician . She was Lieutenant Governor of the State of Iowa from 2007 to 2011 .
Career
Patty Judge graduated from Albia High School . After that she was at the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing until 1965 . She then studied at the University of Iowa . She later worked as a health care nurse. Then she also started working in the real estate industry. She and her husband John own a cattle ranch in Monroe County . Politically, she became a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1992 and 1998 she was a member of the Iowa Senate , where she served on several committees; from 1998 to 2006 she was the first woman Minister of Agriculture in her state.
In 2006, Judge was elected Lieutenant Governor of Iowa, alongside Chet Culver . She held this office between 2007 and 2011. She was Deputy Governor . She was not re-elected in 2010. In December 2012, she announced that she would not run for vice governor in 2014.
Patty Judge was or is a member of numerous organizations and associations. These include the Albia Chamber of Commerce , the Iowa State Fair, and the Philanthropic Educational Organization . She and her husband John have three sons, now grown up.
