Frank T. Campbell

Frank T. Campbell (born May 8, 1836 in Ripley , Brown County , Ohio , †  March 6, 1907 in Lima , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1878 and 1882 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Iowa .

Career

Frank Campbell began studying law, but dropped out to work in the newspaper industry. Since 1857 he was based in Newton, Iowa. During the civil war he served in the Union army . In the meantime he became seriously ill with malaria . After the war he continued his previous work. He also worked in retail and the insurance industry. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . He served in the Iowa Senate for eight years .

In 1878 Campbell was elected Lieutenant Governor of Iowa alongside John H. Gear . He held this office between 1878 and 1882. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Between 1888 and 1892 Campbell was a member of his state's Railway Commission. In 1904 he moved to Lima, Ohio, where he looked after his son who was ill. There he was still active in the newspaper business. He died in this city on March 6, 1907.
