Alfred N. Poyneer

Alfred N. Poyneer (born July 29, 1831 in Connecticut , †  August 28, 1897 in Montour , Iowa ) was an American politician . Between 1890 and 1892 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Iowa.

Career

Nothing is known about Alfred Poyneer's youth and schooling. At an unspecified point in time, he came to Montour, Iowa, where he bought and ran a farm. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . For some time he was a member of the Iowa Senate .

In 1889, Poyneer was elected Lieutenant Governor of Iowa, alongside Horace Boies . He held this office between 1890 and 1892. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After his time as Vice Governor, Alfred Poyneer no longer appeared politically. He died on August 28, 1897 in Montour, Tama County .
