Edmund Joseph Dejanicz von Gliszczynski (born March 17, 1825 in Breslau ; † October 15, 1896 on the Kostau manor near Kreuzburg ) was a Prussian major general , member of the House of Representatives for the Center Party and landowner .

Life

origin

Edmund came from the Pomeranian noble family Glisczynski , which takes its name from the place Gliśno Wielkie , where the family was first mentioned in 1374. He was the son of Major a. D. and postmaster in Warmbrunn Peter von Gliszczynski († 1825) and his wife Friederike, née Stoy († 1857).

Gliszczynski visited the cadet houses in Potsdam and Berlin . On August 9, 1842 he joined the Prussian Army as Second Lieutenant Emperor Franz Garde Grenadier Regiment and took part in the battle near Schleswig during the campaign against Denmark in 1848 . From 1850 to 1852 he acted as a companion to the Hereditary Prince Heinrich XIV. Von Reuss younger line at the University of Bonn . He attended the General War School in Berlin in 1854/55. From 1860 he served as a company commander in the 4th Guards Grenadier Regiment (Queen) . In 1864 he took part in the German-Danish War and was badly wounded while storming the Düppeler Schanzen . Awarded swords in the class, Gliszczynski led the 2nd battalion during the war against Austria in 1866 in the battles at Thrush and Königgrätz . He was promoted to colonel by July 1870 and from August 21, 1870 was commander of the Mecklenburg Fusilier Regiment 90 for the duration of the mobilization on the occasion of the war against France . In this capacity he took part in the sieges of Metz , Toul and Paris and was seriously wounded again in the Battle of Orléans .

After the peace treaty was confirmed as regimental commander, Gliszczynski was appointed commander of Stralsund on March 22, 1873 under position à la suite of the regiment . He received the character of major general on October 27, 1874 , until he was finally put up for disposal on July 2, 1875 with the statutory pension . After his departure he devoted himself to the management of his manor.

Glisczynski was the master of Gut Kostau with Vorwerk Antonienhof (827 hectares ). From 1879 to 1896 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives , initially for the constituency of the administrative district of Oppeln 6 (Pleiß - Rybnik) and from 1894 for the constituency of Oppeln 1 (Kreuzburg - Rosenberg).

Gliszczynski had married Therese Countess von Schmackowsky (1832-1909) on November 24, 1852 in Radau.
