Eglwang is a district of the town of Parsberg in the Neumarkt district in the Upper Palatinate .

The district of Eglwang is located around 2.2 km southwest of Parsberg.

history

Archaeological finds confirm the settlement of the area around Eglwang as early as the Bronze Age .

In the 13th century, the Lupburgers owned a bailiwick of land in Eglwang. In 1305, Ludwig von Lupburg sold the village of Eglwang and other properties to Dietrich von Parsberg . This was confirmed by the Regensburg Bishop Konrad von Lupburg . In 1353, after a legal dispute between Jorg Auer von der Adelburg and Dietrich von Parsberg, jurisdiction over Darshofen and Eglwang was confirmed. Until the 17th century, the annual parish festival of Parsberg was held in Eglwang. The festival was only moved to Parsberg in the course of the Thirty Years' War .

In 1730 the rule of Parsberg and thus also of Eglwang fell to Bishop Friedrich Karl von Schönborn-Buchheim . In 1792 Eglwang came with the dominion of Parsberg through purchase to Elector Karl Theodor . Until it was incorporated into the city of Parsberg on July 1, 1971, Eglwang belonged to the then municipality of Darshofen.
