Elitserien (chess) 1999/2000

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1999/2000 season saw a duel for the title between the defending champions Sollentuna SK and SK Rockaden Stockholm , which was only decided in the last round in a direct comparison. Since Rockaden Stockholm suffered a defeat against Farsta SK in the course of the season , the Sollentuna SK, who had won all previous competitions of the season, was enough to defend their title.

In the previous year the Lunds ASK , the Skara Schacksällskap and the Wasa SK were promoted . All the climbers achieved relegation, while the Schacksällskapet Manhem , the SK Passanten and Södra SASS were relegated. For the reported team squads of the participating clubs, see team squad of the Elitserien (chess) 1999/2000 .

Events

The competitions took place on October 15, 16 and 17, November 13, December 4, 1999, January 22, February 12 and March 4, 17, 18 and 19, 2000. The first three rounds were held centrally in Malmö , the last three in Skara , while the other competitions were held locally at the clubs involved. Two competitions of the fifth round were postponed (one because of the overlap with the European Team Championship , one because of the storm Anatol ) and rescheduled on February 5 and 13, 2000 respectively.
