The Erdgas Sportpark ( spelling : ERDGAS Sportpark ) is a football stadium opened in September 2011 in the city of Halle an der Saale , Saxony-Anhalt . The football club Hallescher FC welcomes its opponents in the arena.
history
The Erdgas Sportpark was built on the site of the old Kurt Wabbel Stadium , which was demolished in summer 2010. The listed outer wall and the archways , which were already located on the Kurt Wabbel Stadium, which was built in 1936, as well as the worker statues, which were moved from Thingplatz Brandberge to the stadium in 1951 , were retained. During the construction period, the football club Hallescher FC had to move to the stadium in the education center . At the topping-out ceremony on April 8, 2011, the new building was officially given the sponsorship name Erdgas Sportpark after the energy supply company VNG - Verbundnetz Gas . The sponsorship contract brings in 500,000 euros per year and has a term of ten years.
Construction work began on September 4, 2010 with the groundbreaking ceremony by Halles Lord Mayor Dagmar Szabados ( SPD ), Finance Minister Jens Bullerjahn (SPD) and Building Minister Karl-Heinz Daehre ( CDU ). The city shared the costs of around 17 million euros with around 11 million euros and the state of Saxony-Anhalt with around 6 million euros. The newly built stadium has a capacity of 15,057 covered seats (8,850 standing, 6,155 seated, 8 boxes, 320 business seats and 30 disabled places as well as 22 places for accompanying persons). The floodlight system and a photovoltaic system from Stadtwerke Halle are integrated into the stadium roof. Under the two-meter-lowered play area made of natural grass , turf heating , which draws heat from the Halle district heating network, was installed.
On September 17, 2011, the new stadium was presented to the public at an open day . First division Hamburger SV was invited to the sporting inauguration and won the opening game on September 20 with 4: 1 (1: 1) against the HFC. The first goal in the new stadium was scored by Sören Bertram from Hamburg , who was due to move to HFC in 2013. Steven Ruprecht met for the Halle residents as an interim compensation.
