The 2005/06 season of the Slovnaft Extraliga was the 13th regular staging of the top division of ice hockey in Slovakia . In the playoff final, MsHK Žilina prevailed against HC ŠKP Poprad 4-3 and won the first Slovak championship title in the club's history. The MHC Martin had to compete against the HC Topoľčany because of the last place in the main round in the relegation for relegation . In this, the MHC Martin prevailed with a 4-0 sweep and was allowed to stay in the extra league . The HC Topoľčany was given the opportunity to participate in the relegation for promotion due to his second place in the main round of the first division after second division champions HC 05 Banská Bystrica had renounced his participation.
