FIFA World Player of the Year 1993
The FIFA World Player of the Year 1993 (then still FIFA World Player ) was chosen on December 19, 1993 as part of the draw for the 1994 World Cup in Las Vegas . It was the third award of the “ World Footballer of the Year ” award, introduced in 1991 by the FIFA World Cup . The winner of the award was the Italian Roberto Baggio .
Voting mode
The winner was determined by voting among 71 national coaches from around the world. They each named the three best footballers in their opinion, although none of the three were allowed to come from their own country. An entry in first place brought five points, a second place three points, the third place one point. Then the points were added.
