FIFA World Player of the Year 2003
The FIFA World Player of the Year 2003 (then still FIFA World Player ) was chosen on December 15, 2003 in Basel . It was the 13th award of the “ World Footballer of the Year ” award introduced by the FIFA World Cup in 1991 . The French Zinédine Zidane won the award for the third time .
Voting mode
The winner was determined by a vote among 142 national coaches from around the world. They each named the three best footballers in their opinion, although none of the three were allowed to come from their own country. An entry in first place brought five points, a second place three points, the third place one point. Then the points were added.

- Club : Club for which the player was active in the calendar year. If a player has changed clubs, the club who is leaving is named in first position.
