FIFA World Player of the Year 2005
The FIFA World Player of the Year 2005 was chosen on December 20, 2005 at the Zurich Opera House . It was the 15th award of the “ World Footballer of the Year ” award introduced by the FIFA World Cup in 1991 . The Brazilian Ronaldinho won the award for the second time in a row .
Voting mode
The winner was determined by a vote among 156 national coaches and 145 national team captains. They each named the three best footballers in their opinion, although none of the three were allowed to come from their own country. An entry in first place brought five points, a second place three points, the third place one point. Then the points were added.

- Club : Club for which the player was active in the calendar year. If a player has changed clubs, the club who is leaving is named in first position.
- Votes : the total votes received from all countries.
