FIFA World Player of the Year 2000
The FIFA World Player of the Year 2000 (then still FIFA World Player ) was chosen on December 11, 2000 in a television studio in Rome . It was the tenth award of the “ World Footballer of the Year ” award introduced by the FIFA World Cup in 1991 . The French Zinédine Zidane won the award for the second time .
Voting mode
The winner was determined by voting among 150 national coaches from around the world. They each named the three best footballers in their opinion, although none of the three were allowed to come from their own country. An entry in first place brought five points, a second place three points, the third place one point. Then the points were added.
