The soccer club Engers 07 is a soccer club from the Neuwied district of Engers . The men's team plays in the fifth-class Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar .
history
The club was founded on July 10, 1907 as FC Viktoria Engers . In the same year, the FC Roland Engers joined. In 1910, FC Viktoria joined TV 1879 Engers . In 1916 the football department became independent again as FV Engers 07 .
Sporting development
After the long-standing regional league team was not taken over into the Gauliga in 1933 , the Engerser dominated the now second-class regional class for several years. In 1933/34, 1935/36 and 1936/37 the FVE was champion of its class, but without making it up. In the first year the Engerser lost the qualifying games for the promotion round against 1. FC Idar , on the second and third attempts they failed in the promotion round. It was not until 1941 that the FVE made the leap into the now very fragmented Gauliga Moselland-Ost .
In the post-war period, it took the Engers four years to find their way back to first class. From 1949 to 1953 and in the 1955/56 season they belonged to the Oberliga Südwest . Her greatest success was her 1-0 victory over the series champions 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the 1950/51 season. In the previous year they had conceded a 0:13 in Kaiserslautern.
After the second relegation, the Engerser did not return to high-class football. When the Bundesliga and the Regionalliga Südwest were introduced, the FV had slipped into the 1st Amateur League Rhineland . At the end of the 1970s - the FV had meanwhile arrived in the A-Class - things were looking up again. The preliminary high point was the league promotion in 2002. The positions achieved since then range between 9th and 15th place in the table.
After relegation from the Oberliga 2007/08 , the FVE played again in the Rhineland League . After a good 2009/10 season they finished eighth in the table, the following year it was tenth. After four years in the Rhineland League, the FV Engers rose in the 2011/12 season with 17th place in the table in the District League East. In the 2012/13 season, however, the club managed to return to the Rhineland League immediately.
In the 2016/17 season, the FVE, as champions of the Rhineland League, was promoted to the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar . Three years later, FV Engers achieved the greatest success in the club's history by winning the Rhineland Cup with a 5-0 victory over FC Karbach .

Stadion
FV Engers 07 plays its home games in the stadium at the water tower in Engers, which once held 10,000 spectators (today 3,000). In the first half of the 1954/55 season, Engers had to leave their stadium for a season and play in the Bendorfer Rheinstadion, as they did not have the grass pitch required by the DFB .
The stadium has had an artificial turf pitch since July 2017 and a new floodlight system has also been built.
