On June 10, 2020, a decision was made about the promotions and relegations as well as the implementation of the 2020/21 season. Since the superordinate Regionalliga Südwest had temporarily suspended the relegation regulation, no new clubs were added from this. Due to a quota point equality, three clubs rose from the Rhineland League, in the Saarland League , however, the quotient second did not exercise his right of promotion, which is why the third moved up.

The regional locations of the respective clubs were taken into account and a north and a south group were formed; 1. FC Kaiserslautern II was, however, assigned to the northern group, as there are only 11 teams in the north, in order to maintain the balance.
