The 2020/21 season of the Oberliga Schleswig-Holstein is to be the 74th season of the Oberliga Schleswig-Holstein since 1947/48, the 13th season with Oberliga status and the 27th as the fifth-highest division in Germany. The opening is scheduled for September 19, 2020.
At a regular meeting on May 9th, a decision was made to end the pre-season . From the league downwards, for example, the quotient regulation (points scored divided by the number of games played) was used. Furthermore, there were no sporting relegations to or from the upper league, which is why the two teams with the strongest quotients in the lower regional league were allowed to rise; the TSV Kropp but withdrew before the season from the league.

As in the Regionalliga Nord , the 18 participants were divided into two groups - north and south - taking geographical proximity into account. Within the group, everyone plays against everyone with a return game, so that both groups have played 72 games at the end. The best four teams in both groups then move into the championship round, the worst five into the relegation round.
