The amateur league Schleswig-Holstein was staged for the 20th time in the 1966/67 season and formed the substructure of the second-rate Regionalliga Nord until the 1973/74 season. The two first-placed teams were allowed to take part in the promotion round to the second-class Regionalliga Nord, the teams in the last three places had to relegate to the 2nd amateur league.

Compared to the 1965/66 season , the composition of the league changed as follows: No team in the Regionalliga Nord, while SV Friedrichsort was relegated from the Regionalliga Nord after three years. The four relegated FC Holstein Segeberg , FC Kilia Kiel , DGF Flensborg and Husum 18 had left the amateur league and were replaced by the three newly promoted Borussia Kiel (return after one year), MTV Heide (for the first time in the amateur league) and VfB Kiel (return after two Years).

Season course

The championship and thus participation in the promotion round secured the LBV Phönix. VfL Oldesloe was also allowed to take part in second place. Phoenix achieved promotion to the Regionalliga Nord. Since no team from the Regionalliga Nord was relegated, there were only two relegated teams from the amateur league. Comet Kiel had to move into the 2nd amateur league after four seasons, Borussia Kiel after one year.

Holstein Kiel Amateure qualified third for the German amateur championship in 1967 . There he was eliminated in the second round against Karlsruher SC .

    The champions and runners-up of the six seasons of the 2nd amateur league took part in the promotion round. They played in three seasons. The winner of each season rose to the amateur league. In the event of a tie, a playoff was scheduled.

    • TSV Brunsbüttelkoog was disqualified because it had used a player who was not eligible to play. The promotion round had to be carried out with the new representative of the 2nd Amateur League West, the Itzehoer SV Amateure. For lack of time, knockout games were scheduled:
