The Schleswig-Holstein state league was played for the 28th time in the 1974/75 season and formed the substructure of the third-class Oberliga Nord. The two first-placed teams were allowed to take part in the promotion round to the Oberliga Nord. The teams in the two five places had to relegate to the association league.

Compared to the 1973/74 season , the composition of the league changed as follows: Flensburg 08 was up in the Oberliga Nord, while VfB Lübeck was relegated from the Regionalliga Nord. The two relegated MTV Heide and Itzehoer SV Amateure had left the state league and were replaced by the two promoted FC Union Neumünster (return after 19 years) and FC Burg / Dithmarschen (for the first time in the highest amateur league in Schleswig-Holstein).

Season course

The championship and participation in the promotion round secured the VfB Lübeck. VfR Neumünster was also allowed to take part in second place. Both did not reach the first place in their group and therefore missed the promotion. FC Burg / Dithmarschen had to leave the regional league after one season, SV Friedrichsort 23 years after its promotion, Schleswig 06 after 18 seasons, VfB Kiel after nine years and Eichholzer SV after seven years.
