Fedor von Brodowski (born February 25, 1841 in Posen ; † December 27, 1923 ) was a Prussian infantry general and governor of Ulm fortress .

Life

After graduating from high school , Brodowski completed his one-year service in the Pioneer Battalion No. 5 of the Prussian Army . There he was appointed portepeef ensign on May 10, 1860 . With his promotion to secondary lieutenant , Brodowski came to Breslau on December 4, 1860 for the second engineer inspection. He stayed here for two years, then came to the 3rd engineer inspection in Koblenz and was then transferred to Pioneer Battalion No. 7 on January 4, 1864. With this battalion Brodowski was at the siege of the Düppeler Schanzen during the war against Denmark in 1864involved. When storming Schanze 4 he was seriously wounded and received the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class with swords , for his achievements .

In the German war in 1866 he did not come to use. Brodowski was transferred to the first lieutenant on October 30, 1866 and on September 3, 1867 for the first engineer inspection. From May 1, 1868 to July 18, 1870 he was commanded to serve with the Great General Staff . After the beginning of the war against France in 1870, Brodowski took part in the Battle of Gravelotte . He then fought from August 19 to 24 with the Guard Rifle Battalion and from August 25 to December 21, 1870 with the Emperor Franz Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 2 near Beaumont and Sedan . This was followed by the siege of Paris . During the siege, Brodowski was transferred to the Emperor Franz Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 2 on December 22, 1870.

Awarded both classes of the Iron Cross , he was promoted to captain on December 23, 1871 after the Peace of Frankfurt and appointed company commander on January 13, 1872 . Under position à la suite of the General Staff of the Army, Brodowski was transferred to the secondary budget of the General Staff on January 23, 1875. From October 17, 1878 to March 15, 1882, he worked as a major in the General Staff of the 22nd Division in Kassel and then came as a battalion commander in the 3rd Lower Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 50 . In the same capacity, Brodowski was transferred to the 4th Guards Regiment on November 20, 1883 on foot . With his promotion to lieutenant colonel , he rose to become a regular staff officer in the 7th Pomeranian Infantry Regiment No. 54 . Then promoted to lieutenant general and transferred to Brandenburg an der Havel , Brodowski was commander of the 6th division until July 2, 1899 . During this command he was awarded the Order of the Iron Crown 1st Class on November 5, 1895 . On July 3, 1899, Kaiser Wilhelm II appointed him governor of Ulm Fortress. He also gave Brodowski on January 27, 1901 the character of General of the Infantry. On September 11, 1901, he was put up for disposal from his post in Ulm and with a pension . In recognition of his many years of service, he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Red Eagle Order with Oak Leaves and Swords on the Ring and the Grand Cross of the Frederick Order on October 12, 1902 .

After his departure, Brodowski lived in Charlottenburg .

He was married to Julie Conrad. The daughter Wally married the captain Adolf von Wickede (* October 5, 1865, † July 17, 1917) The later Lieutenant General Fritz von Brodowski (1886-1944) was his son.

Fedor von Brodowski died in 1923 at the age of 82. His grave is in the Wannsee II cemetery in Berlin-Wannsee . A lying inscription stone made of black granite serves as a grave marker.
