Félix Léopold Marie Guillaume von Nassau (born June 3, 1984 in the Maternité Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in Luxembourg ) is Prince of Luxembourg , Prince of Nassau and Bourbon-Parma and Knight of the Nassau House Order of the Golden Lion . He is the second son of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and his wife Maria Teresa Mestre y Batista and is thus third in the line of succession after his older brother Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg and his son Charles.

After primary school in Lorentzweiler, Félix attended the École Privée Notre-Dame Sainte-Sophie in Kirchberg and the American School of Luxembourg, before finally moving to the Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil in Villars-sur-Ollon in 1998, like his older brother before him , Switzerland changed.

In the following years Félix attended various universities in several countries and studied political science, communication and psychology, including at Vesalius College in Brussels and Boston College in the USA.

In addition, Félix has been working in the marketing and public relations department of Grand Chelem Management, a Swiss company specializing in the organization of sporting and cultural events, since 2005.

From October 2009 Félix studied bioethics at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome. In 2013 he successfully completed his master’s degree.

marriage and family

On December 13, 2012, the engagement of Prince Felix to the German Claire Lademacher (daughter of Hartmut and Gabriele Lademacher), whom he had met at the Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil , was announced. The civil wedding took place on September 17, 2013 in the Villa Rothschild in Königstein im Taunus . The wedding ceremony was carried out by the mayor of the city, Leonhard Helm. The church wedding took place on September 21, 2013 in the Basilica of St. Maria Magdalena in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume , France .

The couple has lived in Provence since their marriage , where they manage the Château Les Crostes winery owned by the Lademacher family near Lorgues .

On June 15, 2014, Princess Claire gave birth to daughter Amalia Gabriela Maria Teresa in Luxembourg. She was baptized in Lorgues on July 12, 2014. The son Liam Henri Hartmut was born on November 28, 2016 in Geneva . Since the succession to the throne of the House of Luxembourg since a new regulation in 2010 stipulates that the firstborn will ascend the throne in the future, regardless of whether it is a son or a daughter, until the birth of his brother Guillaume's son on May 10, 2020 he and subsequently his daughter the next heir to the throne.

Tasks and interests

Félix regularly takes part in the activities of the grand ducal family and official events such as the national holiday or the closing ceremony of the Octave of Our Lady .
