Findus was a German-speaking punk rock band from Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg founded in 2005 .

Band history

Beginnings (2005-2009)

The first appearance under the name Findus took place in 2005 in Kröß (Ostholstein) . In 2006 an unpublished 6-song demo with Björn Seiz from the band Smoke Blow was produced, which Findus continued to support and promote later on. Back then, singer Lüam still played the guitar and a friend of the band, Elias Brunken, played the organ and cello.

Zanzibar (2009-2010)

On October 9, 2009, the group released their debut album "Sansibar" on the specially founded label Delikatess Tonträger . The album was produced by Björn Seiz and received mostly positive feedback from the music press. The punk rock magazine OX wrote: "(...) one of the best German punk albums (...) Here, apart from the SUPERPUNK copy" Stechuhr ", which does not fit into the context , everything is right: the melodies are right, the choruses load (... ) to shout along, the vocals are wonderfully aggressive. " (9 out of 10 points) (Issue 86, October / November 2009).

Moritz Buhmann joined the band as the second guitarist during the recording of the album and during the subsequent tour for the album, the drummer Jannes Heinrich left the band and was replaced by Timo Meinen. In May 2010 Findus played as opening act for the American punk rock band Against Me! on their tour of Germany: further appearances in the opening act of Bernd Begemann , NOFX , Smoke Blow or Turbostaat followed.

Mrugalla (2010-2012)

At the end of 2010 the band began recording their second album "Mrugalla" in Kiel . The album title refers to the Berlin art forger Edgar Mrugalla , whose story inspired the singer Lüam. The album was produced again by Björn Seiz and was released on March 4, 2011 on Delikatess records. The alternative music magazine Visions wrote in issue 216: "The dirt from Smoke Blow, the soul-smack from Superpunk, the cryptic puns from Turbostaat, the nervous flutter of Yes, Panic: Findus build bridges where walls are often otherwise." It followed another tour of Germany and first, larger festival appearances at Omas Teich or Reeperbahn Festival .

The 7 "split" Stay where we are / The Irishman wasn't the problem "was recorded with label colleague Ms. Potz in 2011 (Delikatess Tonträger). Findus also released the download EP" Feuer In Paris "with remixes on Record Store Day 2011 by among others Turbostaat , Fuck Art, Let's Dance! and station 17 . After the tour the guitarist Moritz Buhmann left the band and was replaced by Danny Steinmeyer, who played drums with the Hamburg punk band Das Ende Cast some headliner and support shows, as well as an extensive festival summer (including Open Flair , Greenville Festival and Fusion Festival ).

Vis A Vis (2013-2015)

In October 2013, the recordings for the third album “Vis A Vis” began in Hamburg under the direction of the Hamburg producers Torsten Otto ( e.g. Beatsteaks , Kante ) and Hauke ​​Albrecht (e.g. Captain Planet , Mountain Witch ). Then Findus were part of the Germany-wide “Audiolith - 10 Years From Now” tour with Egotronic and Feine Sahne Fischfilet and played a year-end concert in the sold-out Hamburg Knust .

On March 14th, 2014 the third album “Vis A Vis” was released and then the 4-track EP “Quatscherei”. This was followed by a 3-week tour through Germany and Austria and further festival appearances and the like. a. at the Hurricane Festival and Dockville Festival . For the nonsense EP, the band shot an 18-minute short film together with Hamburg directors Lasse Buchhop and Joachim Zunke.

In 2015 Findus were featured on the Kein-Mensch-ist-illegal -Benefiz-Sampler with the song "Hafenklang".

On March 1, 2016, the band announced their breakup. The reasons they gave were the planned departure of the drummer Timo Meinen and the end of their record label Delikatess Tonträger . The last farewell concert took place on May 20, 2016 in Hamburg's Uebel & Hazardous .
