Frankfurt poetics lectures

The Frankfurt Poetics Lectures are a poetological lecture series at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

history

The lectures place during the Foundation Visiting Professor poetics place that has existed for the winter semester 1959/60. The founder and first benefactor was S. Fischer Verlag . This tradition was interrupted in 1968. From 1979 the Suhrkamp Verlag took over the financing of the lectureship together with the Association of Friends and Supporters of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main . The publisher continues to support the lecture series even after he left for Berlin, but not alone since the summer semester 2011, but together with the publishers S. Fischer and Schöffling & Co.

The first lecturer was Ingeborg Bachmann . In the Frankfurt Poetics Lectures, each semester an author deals with questions about poetic production and its conditions in a lecture series under a freely chosen title. Many of these lectures have also been published as books.
