Franz Heinrich von Waldersee
Franz Heinrich Georg Graf von Waldersee (born April 25, 1791 in Dessau , † January 16, 1873 in Breslau ) was a Prussian general of the cavalry .
Life
origin
Franz Heinrich was the son of Count Franz Anton Waldersee (1763-1823) and his wife Luise Karoline Kasimira Sophie, née Countess von Anhalt (born September 3, 1767 in Halberstadt ; † April 4, 1842 in Potsdam ). His younger brother was the future Prussian Lieutenant General and Minister of War Friedrich von Waldersee (1795–1864).
Military career
Waldersee entered on February 22, 1806 as a Junker in the Dragoon Regiment "King of Bavaria" No. 1 of the Prussian Army . On November 23, 1812, he became a first lieutenant . He took part in the campaign in 1813 as a staff commander in the Gardes du Corps regiment and took part in the battles at Großgörschen , Bautzen , Großbeeren and Leipzig . On June 5, 1815 he was promoted to Rittmeister and on March 30, 1819 to major . After a long period of peace he was appointed leader of the 3rd Uhlan Regiment on September 21, 1832 and on September 25, 1832 as regimental commander. On February 18, 1834, Waldersee was transferred to the Gardes du Corps regiment as commander. In this position at 30 March 1834 was followed by his promotion to lieutenant colonel , and on March 30, 1836 , Colonel . On March 25, 1841 he was commander of the 2nd Guards Cavalry Brigade and on April 7, 1842 promoted to major general. On February 14, 1848 he was promoted to chief of the Guards Cavalry Brigade and on May 8, 1849 to lieutenant general. From August 15, 1856 to August 14, 1864 he was commanding general of the 5th Army Corps in Posen , and in between he was promoted to General of the Cavalry on September 18, 1858 . The corps gave up Waldersee on June 13, 1859 and then became governor of Posen. Between May 18, 1864 and May 1, 1870, he was governor of Berlin and, during the absence of General Field Marshal Friedrich von Wrangel on the occasion of the German War in 1866, he was entrusted with the position of Commander-in-Chief in the Marche .
On May 2, 1870, Waldersee was put up for disposition , leaving his relationship as chief of Dragoon Regiment No. 4 with a pension .

On December 27, 1823, Waldersee married Bertha Wilhelmine Friederike von Hünerbein in Berlin (born March 20, 1799 in Berlin, † January 24, 1859 in Posen). She was the daughter of General Friedrich Heinrich Karl von Hünerbein . The following children were born from the marriage:
