Franziska John (* 24. May 1989 in Potsdam , East Germany as Franziska Weber ) is a German canoeist . In her sport, she has already become an Olympic champion , world champion and multiple European champion.

The canoe racer of the KC Potsdam was appointed to the German national canoe racing team for the first time in 2009 and succeeded in the 2009 European canoe racing championships with a second place in a single kayak over 1000 meters behind the Hungarian Katalin Kovács . In addition, she and Fanny Fischer won the bronze medal in a two-person kayak over 500 meters .

Before that, she had finished two thirds at the 2005 Junior World Championships and two second places at the 2007 Junior World Championships. At the Canoe Racing World Championships in 2010 , she won the title in the kayak single over 1000 meters.

At the 2012 Olympic Games Weber achieved the silver medal over 500 m in the German women's four-man kayak with Tina Dietze , Carolin Leonhardt and Katrin Wagner-Augustin . In a two-person kayak over 500 m, she won the gold medal together with Tina Dietze. Together with her two and four-man partner Tina Dietze, she was the second best German female athlete at the Olympic Games in London, behind eventing rider Michael Jung .

Weber was also successful at the 2013 Canoe Racing World Championships in Duisburg. She won gold over 200 and 500 meters in a two-person kayak with Tina Dietze, and she also won silver in a four-person kayak over 500 meters with Dietze, Katrin Wagner-Augustin and Verena Hantl . Only the Hungarian team was faster. The 2014 World Championships in Moscow were less positive for her. In the single kayak over 500 meters, she had a good time in the run-up, but only came fourth in the final due to a failed start. She took the same place in a four-person kayak. Finally she won a silver medal in a two-person kayak with Dietze over 200 meters.
