Association League Westphalia

The 1998/99 season of the Oberliga Westfalen was the 21st season of the football Oberliga Westfalen and the fifth as the fourth highest division in Germany. The championship and promotion to the regional league were secured by the VfL Bochum amateurs with an eight point lead over the FC Schalke 04 amateurs .

The Schalke amateurs had the opportunity, together with SV Adler Osterfeld and FK Pirmasens, to find another promoted player in the Regionalliga, but for reasons of timing they decided not to take part in the promotion round .

The relegation ranks were occupied by SV Langendreer 04 , Hasper SV and Hammer SpVg .

The SC Herford and Westfalia Herne rose from the Association League Westphalia as relay winners. Since Prussia Lengerich was in first place in the season 1 table after the end of the season due to a game evaluation and also qualified as champions for promotion, both Lengerich and Herford rose. SV Rotthausen secured fourth place in the promotion via the promotion game of the runner-up in season 2 and third in the table in season 1 . SpVgg Erkenschwick was relegated from the Regionalliga West / Südwest . The Oberliga Westfalen played with 17 teams in the following season .

The top scorer was Lars Mettenbrink from SC Herford with 25 goals.
