Game results
Spain was able to prevail in the first game against the much stronger Brazilians thanks to their goalkeeper Zamora and a good yield of chances. In the first quarter-final match against Italy there was a dramatic 1-1 match after extra time, which meant that several players were no longer able to play in the following game. In the replay, Spain had no chance because of a partisan referee. By a header goal Giuseppe Meazzas , who had leaned on the Spanish goalkeeper, they came behind. In the end, they had two refused penalties and two unrecognized goals.
