history

The village of Geburge , called Gurra after 1540 , was founded before 1540. Between 1874 and 1945 it was in the District Mykossen ( Polish Mikosze ) incorporated, which - renamed "District Arens forest" 1938 - the county Johannesburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen (1905: Administrative district Allenstein ) the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged.

Gurra had 331 inhabitants in 1910, and 302 in 1933.

On June 3, 1938 (officially confirmed on July 16), Gurra was renamed to “Gebürge” for political and ideological reasons to defend against foreign-looking place names . In 1939 the population was 302 as usual. As a result of the war, the village came to Poland in 1945 with all of southern East Prussia and was given the Polish form of the name “Góra”. Today it is the seat of a Schulzenamt ( Polish Sołectwo ) and thus a place in the network of the urban and rural municipality Orzysz (Arys) in the Powiat Piski ( Johannisburg district ), until 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then assigned to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship.

Religions

Until 1945 Gurra was parish in the Protestant Church of Arys in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic Church Johannisburg (Polish Pisz ) in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today, on the Catholic side, Góra belongs to Orzysz in the Ełk diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland . The Protestant residents stick to the church in Pisz in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Góra is located away from the traffic and can be reached via the secondary road 1720N from Orzysz or Cierzpięty (Czierspienten , 1905 to 1945 above sea level) . There is no train connection.
