Secret Files Tunguska (outside the German-speaking area Secret Files: Tunguska ) is a point-and-click adventure developed in Germany by Animation Arts and Fusionsphere Systems . It deals with possible (fictional) backgrounds for the mysterious Tunguska event of June 30, 1908.
action
The young Russian Nina Kalenkow wants to visit her father, the scientist Vladimir Kalenkow , in his research laboratory in Berlin . But Kalenkov's office in the Museum of Natural History has been abandoned and ransacked, and the researcher himself has disappeared without a trace. Nina tries to get the authorities involved, but encounters silence, appeasement and half-truths everywhere. In addition, the young woman believes she is being persecuted. In her need she turns to the only trustworthy person: Max Gruber , her father's assistant, who also frees her from the ambush of a fake policeman.
Together, the duo rummages through the secret of the missing researcher and thus comes to information about the so-called Tunguska event in distant Siberia . Vladimir Kalenkov allegedly gathered information that could explain what happened almost 100 years ago, in which a large explosion devastated entire areas.
The search for their father leads Nina and Max from Berlin via Moscow , through a trip on the Trans-Siberian Railway to Tunguska, and later to Cuba , Ireland , China and the Antarctic . In doing so, they are always on their heels by the hackers of the FSB , the Russian secret service, who obviously captured Vladimir Kalenkov and who want to prevent his research documents from reaching the public under any circumstances. But there are other persecutors: black cowls who also want to prevent a discovery of the true secret of Tunguska.
Game principle and technology
The game is played entirely with the mouse. On the game screen, in the upper black bar, all objects and people with whom an interaction is possible are labeled with their names and wording. The lower bar shows in the left to middle area all the objects in the inventory as pictograms, through which you can click using the arrow symbols on the side. In addition, there are three additional buttons in the right area of the lower bar: a computer, a magnifying glass and a book. Clicking on the computer takes you to the main menu. By clicking on the magnifying glass (optionally using the space bar ) you can get small reminder and solution aids as to which objects you should still look at or use on the game surface. This is indicated briefly by means of a magnifying glass symbol. This help is optional, which means you can switch it off if you prefer to play without additional tips. By clicking on the book, you finally get to Nina's diary, in which everything that has happened in the game is written down. When an entry is made in the book, this is indicated by a typewriter sound and the lighting of the book symbol in the upper left corner of the game screen.
On the game screen itself, the play figure Nina (sometimes also Max) is sent back and forth by clicking on certain objects or people as well as undefined movement points. A stylized mouse serves as the cursor, which changes the appearance of interactable objects and subjects a little. Depending on the object, a green highlighting shows which mouse buttons can be used for which action. The respective possible action is represented by small pictograms (eye to look, hand to pick up, ...). As on the surface, interactions with objects are also possible in the inventory. You can tell from the state of the mouse pointer whether an action is possible or not. There is no need to click. Dialogues and cutscenes can be canceled with the right mouse button, the mouse pointer symbolizes this with a fast-forward symbol.
The version of the game published for the Wii has not made any changes to the content of the PC version. It is controlled with the pointer function of the Wii remote control , which takes on the role of the mouse. From a technical point of view, only 4: 3 image output is supported.
Since July 16, 2014, Tunguska Secret Files has also been available in the App Store for iPhone , iPad and iPod touch . While the content and scope of the game have remained the same as in the previous versions, the handling of the iOS version for touch displays has been optimized and a storage option via iCloud has been added.
Production notes
Was announced Secret Files Tunguska in May 2005 on the computer game exhibition Electronic Entertainment Expo . Two development studios worked together on the game: Fusionsphere Systems from Aichach developed the technology, while Animation Arts from Naumburg took care of the content and graphics.
