George Eldredge

George Eldredge (born September 10, 1898 in San Francisco , California , † March 12, 1977 in Los Angeles , California) was an American actor.

life and work

George Eldredge was born to George Granville Eldredge and his wife Julia Dornin. His younger brother, John Eldredge , also became an actor.

Eldredge, who first appeared in film in 1936, has appeared in over 200 films and television series, but almost exclusively had small roles. His filmography includes films such as Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock , Liebling, I'm Getting Younger by Howard Hawks , Counter-Espionage by André De Toth or The Gladiators by Delmer Daves . He has also been in films by Jack Arnold ( Danger From Space ), Cecil B. DeMille ( Dr. Wassell's Escape from Java , Samson and Delilah ), Blake Edwards ( Mister Cory ), Jean Negulesco ( A Stranger Calls ), King Vidor ( Northwest Passage ) and Raoul Walsh ( His Last Command , Dangerous Blood ) as well as in three films by Don Siegel ( Shots in New Mexico , An Annapolis Story , The Executioner Is On The Way ). He had leading roles in the film False Shame or in the Serial Captain Video: Master of the Stratosphere, among others .

From 1951, George Eldredge also appeared as a guest actor in television series. These included series such as Perry Mason , Rin Tin Tin , Alfred Hitchcock Presents , Adventure Under Water , At the Foot of the Blue Mountains or Smoking Colts . With the film The Revenge of Johnny Cool he ended his acting career in 1963.

George Eldredge was married twice. He had a son from his marriage to Phyllis H. Harms. From 1947 until her death in 1950 he was married to the actress Irene Haisman . He died of a stroke on March 22, 1977 and was buried in Los Angeles National Cemetery.

It was dubbed by Friedrich Joloff , Franz Nicklisch , Martin Held , Gert Günther Hoffmann , Hans Wiegner , Rainer Brandt , Hellmut Grube , Eric Vaessen and Robert Klupp , among others .
