Gilla Cremer (born December 19, 1956 in Königswinter , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German freelance actress and author / producer of her own solo pieces.

Gilla Cremer grew up as the fourth of five children in Königswinter am Rhein. Her father was a merchant, her mother a gardener.

After graduating from high school in 1976, Gilla Cremer lived in the USA for two years. In Austin / Texas and New York she took modern dance lessons with the dancer and performance artist Deborah Hay, among others, and followed lessons at the Actors Studio . Influenced by the writings of the theater directors Peter Brook and Jerzy Grotowski , she went to Bali / Indonesia for a year and studied mask dance, mask carving and kung fu there. In 1979 she met Eugenio Barba from Odin Teatret and in the following years took part as a drama student at the "International School for Theater Anthropology - ISTA" in Bonn, Volterra, Holstebro and Bologna. Acting seminars with Günther Einbrodt (Tabori Group), Ingemar Lind, Werner Schroeter , Augusto Fernandez and others followed. a.

In 1981 she was co-founder of the free group “Theater Tilbut” in Frankfurt. After the birth of her first child in 1984, she began working as a soloist. Since 1987, Gilla Cremer has been producing, writing and playing her solo productions under the name “Theater Unikate”. In the meantime she has 13 productions in her repertoire with which she is touring at home and abroad. She worked with the directors Max Eipp , Hans-Ulrich Becker , Johannes Kaetzler , Michael Heicks , Eva-Maria Martin , Brigitte Landes and Dominik Günther .

In cooperation with the “Magdalena Project”, an international network by and for women from different theater branches, she also shows her plays in English and has made guest appearances in Denmark, France, Poland, Hungary, New Zealand and the Netherlands.

In addition to her solo work, she played in 1999 in the production "Kohelet" directed by David Mayaan and his group Akko / Israel in Weimar and at the Wiener Festwochen . In 2006 she was a guest at the Hanover Theater in the production "Mobil". From 2001 to 2009 she was a guest at the Thalia Theater Hamburg in "Damen der Gesellschaft" as well as with her solo productions "Meeresrand" and "So oder so - Hildegard Knef ".

In her socially critical plays, the actress rubs against extremely contradicting female figures, illuminates German sensitivities from 1933 to the present day, and repeatedly puts her work at the service of social concerns. With her production “Meeresrand” she is committed to the issue of child poverty and the needs of single mothers. “Die Kommandeuse” and “Vater hat Lager” appear in connection with educational campaigns at schools.
